2006 Network Stress Test
From CooperNet
The 2006 Network Stress Test is an event where you're all invited to come over and stress out our network. Bring as many devices with RJ-45 jacks as you'd like, and we'll see if we can put them all together and have a good time.
- Location
- Our new house at 194 Berry Corner Rd. in Charlton, MA. See Directions for how to get here.
- Timing
- This event has been postponed indefinitely.
- Accommodations
- This house is plenty big for the two of us, so we have some extra room if you'd like to stay here. We have two guest rooms, two couches, and plenty of floor space. Food will be provided.
- Activities
- I plan for the majority of the time to be spent playing games on network-enabled hardware. However, non-networked games may be played as well, and there will likely be a good amount of eating, chatting, and general mayhem.
- Things to bring (if you have them)
- Yourself
- Any device with an RJ-45 jack that you'd like to plug into our network (We support up to Gigabit Ethernet.)
- Peripherals for your networked devices (such as for display and user input)
- Any games (electronic or otherwise) that you'd like to play
- Card table or other stand for your computer
- Networking equipment (But only if you really, really want to... We should have enough here already.)
- Any personal hygiene or changes of clothing you'd like to use, particularly recommended if you're staying here overnight
- Sleeping bag and pillows
- We are providing
- We have a couple spare computers available for those who'd like to come but who don't want to bring their own networked device.
- I think we'll have enough table space, but feel free to bring your own table if you have one handy.
- We will be providing snacks throughout the event, as well as and all meals on Saturday.
- Important response instructions
- If you are planning on coming, please email Pete at pete@cooperjr.name to inform us of your plans. Please also let us know what you're bringing, as well as any food requirements, restrictions, requests, or recommendations. This will help us plan meals, activities, sleeping arrangements, and table space. However, if your plans change at the last minute, do feel free to come even if you haven't responded.
Also, for those who'd like to come but can't or don't want to come physically, we can set up a VPN and turn this into a WAN party.
